The Final Pan Am Recap You’ve Been Waiting For
The Pan Am games officially came to a close over the weekend, but they didn’t do so without some remarkable highlights. In true Pan Am fashion, the closing ceremony, which took place at Toronto’s Rogers Centre, featured a very controversial live performance by none other than Kanye West. Earlier in the week, a petition against the American superstar’s performance garnered over 30,000 signatures, but the show inevitably went on.

- The U.S. won 12 gold medals, with Brazil closely behind at 10
- It’s estimated that over two million guests attended the events over their two week span, making the Pan Am games the largest sporting event in Canadian history
- Brazilian swimmer Thiago Pereira became the athlete with the most wins in Pan Am Games history
- The American men’s baseball team lost to Canada, however the American women’s baseball team beat Canada for the title.
